History of TVOA

The Thai Vacation Ownership Association (TVOA) was established by a group of vacation ownership business operators in 1997 with the shared purpose of protecting consumers, and acting as proponents of the development of the vacation ownership industry in Thailand.

The TVOA raises the bar of operators to meet international standards. The association is dedicated to promoting public understanding of the timeshare industry in Thailand, support Member companies, and monitor any updates to laws and regulations relating to vacation ownership in Thailand.

Securing Consumer Rights

To date, the TVOA has played an integral role in lobbying for consumer protection in Thailand. In 2013, TVOA released the State of the Timeshare Industry in Thailand, a report for the governmental Contract Committee to further encourage consumer protection when purchasing vacation ownership related properties.

Thanks to the report and the continued efforts of the association, legislation was added to the Consumer Protection Act (No.2), B.E. 2541 (1998) which clarifies legal guidelines for owning, selling, buying and operating shared vacation accommodation within the country.
